The Natural Healing Research Foundation (NHRF) and Qi Centers held the first of three days on Honolulu and Kaua’i servicing around 500 people on July 20. This is the 3rd year of the Event for people who have asthma, allergies and lung-related diseases. Asthma is one of the diseases for which Native Hawaiians and the people of Hawaii are more likely to face. 117,000 people have been diagnosed with asthma (2003), and one-half of the people have allergies.

The impetus for the Events dates back more than three years. Master Hong was having tea with a hospital administrator on Kaua’i. The administrator was lamenting the asthma and allergy situation on Kaua’i (the worst amongst the islands of Hawaii). He was concerned with the increased prevalence and costs of asthma and allergies, and queried Master Hong if there was a complementary approach from Natural Healing that would help. From that conversation, Master Hong designed the complementary program and event that was started in the summer of 2004 on Kaua’i, Honolulu and Kaua’i in 2005, and is being expanded to include additional islands this year.

Essentially, the Natural Healing approach is to open the blockages (that which impedes the follow of energy) in the lung meridian and move out the cold energy that causes internal phlegm (the root of the problem). If the internal organ energies are balanced (lung, spleen and kidneys), and the internal phlegm is moved out—the condition will improve. The program is designed to achieve this and includes, Medical Qi Gong exercises, reflexology, natural foods and recipes and herbal supplements. It is complementary to conventional approaches, and used in tandem gives more opportunities for improvement.

Testimonials from the event:

Usually when I lay down at night I cough from my asthma.  The first night after having the patch on my coughing stopped.  When I woke up in the morning I didn't have a lot of sneezing like I usually do and my sinuses are much clearer.  I am using my inhaler less often since the event.  I am someone that has asthma symptoms on a daily basis and I'm happy with the results of attending the Asthma event.  I will go back to attend asthma events in future.  Thank you

I’ve had a history of yearly asthma attacks for 60 years and even ended up in the hospital for [a]week from an attack.  At the same time, I’ve also had allergies, hay fevers, uncontrollable coughing and sneezing. I was on medication and inhalers [the] entire time. Since attending the Asthma Humanitarian event three years ago, my asthma and allergies have greatly improved and I do not have the severe attacks. My breathing is clearer for the first time. Due to the results of the first event, I’ve attended every one and do the exercises every day. I am continuing to go to all of [the] future events. It is wonderful of the Qi Center to offer this service to the community and I recommend that other sufferers attend them too.

I am a volunteer at the Qi Center, Honolulu. Over the last two years, I’ve been proud to see people “lit up” and getting results with the program and classes offered at the Qi Center. I was moved by the dedication and compassion of the other volunteers for the Asthma Humanitarian Event, giving up their weekends and nights over a period of one month! I am so happy to be a part of it—especially after seeing the results from the participants. I hope the government, corporate community, and private individuals will support our work—to help us to help others.
